He stresses that as the COVID-19 situation in the country is becoming more alarming every day, he directs all government agencies concerned to strengthen their efforts in responding to the health crisis such as providing additional bed capacities, particularly in hospitals across the National Capital Region (NCR), and increasing COVID-19 Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing, among others. The Department of Health (DOH) reports that despite the growth in the daily number of active cases, severe and critical cases are comparatively lower than what was observed during the September 2021 peak. Nevertheless, the DOH urges all local government units (LGUs) to enhance their Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) strategies and the public to strictly observe health protocols, report symptomatic conditions and get tested in the right time. On updates in the country’s national vaccination deployment, President Duterte reports that the total administered doses had already reached 113 million. Of this figure, he calls on his ‘kababayans’ who have not yet received their COVID-19 jabs to get inoculated at the soonest possible time even in vaccination centers outside their residences. For those who have completed their COVID-19 vaccine shots, President Duterte also advises his countrymen to get booster shots for additional defense against the virus.
