General Rupertus commanded the 1st Marine division alongside General Vandegrift. Their forces fought during the battle of Tulagi, Gavutu & Tanambogo, and multiple battles on Guadalcanal such as the battle of Aligator Creek (battle of Tenaru), battle of Edson's Ridge and the battle of Henderson's field ▶️ Don Brown narrates the situation of the Pacific war 1941-1943 and why the US performed operations in the Solomon Islands. The naval battle of Salvo Island is covered as well as the life and command of General Rupertus in general. ▶️ General Rupertus is the author of the Rifleman's Creed. He penned the Rifleman's Creed after Pearl Harbor was bombed with the intent of encouraging expert marksmanship and Marines' trust in their weapons. ▶️ This Pacific War documentary is built from an interview with Amy Rupertus Peacock, granddaughter of General Rupertus and author of "Old Breed General" and Don Brown, an American author and attorney, and former United States Navy JAG Officer.
