| Video Discription | Two of the earliest pieces of labor legislation were the Railway Labor Act of 1926 and the Norris-LaGuardia Act of 1935. This legislation was followed by the passage of three Acts: the Wagner Act of 1935, the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947, and the Landrum- Griffin Act of 1959. Jointly, the acts are referred to as the National Labor Code. Congress passed the Norris-LaGuardia Act in 1932 to make it easier for employees to engage in union-organizing activities. Congress subsequently passed the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), known as the Wagner Act, in 1935. This Act is often regarded as the most important piece of labor relations legislation. The NLRA also provides rights to employees who are not part of a union. These employees have the right to engage in “concerted activity.” Concerted activity exists when two or more employees act together to try to improve working conditions, or when a single employee approaches management after conferring with other employees on their behalf or is acting on behalf of other employees. oOKG5geVkAg |
