Nandi – Divine Mount of Lord Shiva
Nandi or Nandi Deva is Lord Shiva’s sacred bull and serves as his vehicle or mount. He is one of the main Shivas Ganas (divine attendants of the Lord) and the gatekeeper of the mountainous abode of Shiva- Kailash.
Nandi is depicted as a white or black bull, adorned with a necklace of bells in a seated position, facing Lord Shiva. He is also represented as half-human and half-bull, wearing beautiful clothes, ornaments, and garlands, with his hands hold a conch, a deer, and a staff, and as blessing his devotees. He is often found in front of the Shiva Lingam in most temples and is worshipped along with Lord Shiva.
