| Video Discription | Just before Fajr on Friday 5/2/21 Ustad Ahmad Mustafa Kamil [senior teacher of Qur'anic melodies in the method of Shaykh Mustafa Ismail RA] departed to the mercy of his Lord. He inspired thousands (if not millions) across the world, to recite the Holy Qur'an beautifully by his unique style of teaching. Ustad Ahmad Mustafa accompanied 'the king of Qurraa' Shaykh Mustafa Ismail for decades, during which he learnt and recorded from him his largest library of Mujawwad Tilawah. Ustad Ahmad Mustafa dedicated his entire life to learning and teaching the Madrasah (method) of his grand Shaykh. Since the 1970s Ustad has been the primary propagator of this unique and magnificent school. During my years in Egypt I had the opportunity to study with Ustad, after our introduction via my friend and teacher Hafidh Riza Gunay of Istanbul, and my brother Qari Abdur Rahman Faraj of Cairo. Though his service to Qura'nic melodies is what's most celebrated and known about him, Ustad had many outstanding qualities that not many knew about. For example he rarely charged fees for his world-class lessons, despite living in a humble apartment in Hadayek Kobba. I witnessed myself that when he did charge a fee, it was often to buy medication and necessities for widows and the poor. His doors were open to all, seven days a week. He trained and left behind many exquisite Qurraa'. Among them are Sheikh Yasir Sharqawi, Qari Sheikh Abdurrahman Hafez (both holding official ministery of religion posts in Egypt), Hafidh Riza Gunay (Turkey) and many more.
