Rwanda's fastest growing service provider of prepaid, postpaid mobile, & 4G data services, today announced that it has extended its relationship with Ferwacotamo as part of its contribution to a clean and smart city. The partnership renewal coincides with the launch of the moto Jacket, a safety measure that has a serial number inprinted on the jacket to identify the riders incase of any accidents or incidents. Passengers are advised to share this number with authorities incase of misconduct of the riders.
This announcement comes ahead of the launch of a seamless mobile payment solution which will see passengers pay for their rides using Airtel Money.
Speaking at the launch in Nyamirambo stadium, Amit Chawla, Airtel Rwanda’s Managing Director, said, “Moto-Taxis are seen as innovative solutions in frontier markets and are fast becoming the most common method of getting around in many areas around towns. They’re fast ,efficient and affordable. They are equally very deadly if ridden carelessly. It is in our interest to see Kigali as a smart and clean city hence the need to partner with Ferwacotamo in this great initiative of ensuring security first .”
