The National Indigenous Art Triennial, curated by Arrente and Kalkadoon woman Hetti Perkins. It's a diverse and powerful collection about one theme — ceremony. And explores the role of ceremony, as the key link between Country, culture and community. 'Ceremony' includes 19 newly commissioned works from 38 First Nations artists and delves into what ceremony means to each artist. Artist Paul Girrawah House worked on a piece with his mother called 'Alive and Strong', where a series of scare trees adored the gallery's sculpture garden. "The tree scarring and markings is all about acknowledging Biame, our creator, our protector", says House.
