| Video Discription | How To Adjust Image Size and Aspect Ratio in Midjourney AI In this video I’m going to show you how to use a parameter to adjust the image size or aspect ratio of an image you’re prompting inside of Midjourney. With Midjourney version 5, we can set any aspect ratio we want. Let’s start by creating a new prompt. Type /imagine prompt and put in a text prompt. Let’s say wide shot, sunflower field, bright warm golden hour sun. Now you add the aspect ratio parameter. To do this, type --ar, and then after that, enter the aspect ratio you want to use. For instance, this would be perfect in wide screen. So, I’ll put 16:9. This is where you can put any aspect ratio in though. The default square that you get is 1:1, but other common ones are 9:16 which are good for social media stories or reels, 4:5 for standard Instagram portraits, 2:3 for Pinterest pins, and more. The best bet is, when you’re creating a post or image for a certain app or site, just check the optimized aspect ratio for that. So we’ll go ahead and create our wide 16:9 image here from our prompt and take a look at what it gives us. Here you can then see the images are given back to us, and they’re in the 16:9 aspect ratio. And if we change our mind and want a version for Instagram Stories, we’ll just reenter the prompt, but this time put --ar 9:16 at the end. A quick note, you may see other aspect ratios like 7:4 or 4:7. This is the same as 16:9 and 9:16, Midjourney is just doing slight modifications to the image ratio to fit better. That’s why you may see those ratios though. And now that our last prompt is done generating, we’ll see the images we want, but now in a portrait layout.
