| Video Discription | Ladakh being a cold desert has rendered many people the idea of a lifeless land and scarce of biodiversity. But to our astonishment Ladakh houses a varied species of birds ranging from cranes to raptors. The total no. of birds so far recorded has been around 315 but occasional new discoveries happen every now and then. I have tried to make a video on birds of ladakh and was hoping to include more bird species but time was not on my side. However in this video there are 38 species of birds all shot at different angles for better understanding. I'll soon be making a video on mammals of ladakh which is currently underway and have included 3 mammals all in action. There is mountain Weasel (lakimo) catching several fishes and Blue Sheeps enjoying their grazing time and so on.. The common names and scientific names of the birds are as follows:- 1. Long tailed shrike. (Lanus schach). 2. Great Tit. (Parus major). 3. White Wagtail. (Motacilla alba). 4. Green Sandpiper. (Tringa ochropus). 5. Common Rosefinch.(Carpodaeus erythrinus). 6. Black winged Stilt. (Himantopus himantopus). 7. Ibisbill. (Ibidorhyncha struthersii). 8. Citrine Wagtail. (Motacilla citreola). 9. Common Hoopee. (Upupa epops). 10. Mallard. (Anas platyrhynchos). 11. Brown Crake. (Amaurornis akool). 12. Northern Shoveler. (Anas clypeata). 13. Grey Headed Swamphen. (Porphyrio poliocephalus). 14. Common Pochard. (Aythya ferina). 15. Common Coot. (Fulica atra). 16. White Winged Redstart. (Phoenicurus erythrogaster). 17. Upland Buzzard. (Buteo hemilasius). 18. Great Cormorant. (Phalacrocorax carbo). 19. Gadwall. (Anas strepera). 20. Greylag Goose.
