| Video Discription | Not everybody knows about gender equality as a human right in the context of how we come to be either male or female. And not everybody knows that we need to specify the level we are referring to when talking about sex. Here we wish to educate about human biological sex from a behavioral neuroscience viewpoint. Learn more @ inDClazz.com The idea of only two human sexes is overly simplistic. Biological sex is so beautifully complex that "intersex conditions" or "disorders of sex development (DSDs)" can be as frequent as 1 in 100 people. Because of our social ignorance on this topic, parents of children with obvious DSDs often face difficult decisions about whether to bring up their child as a boy or a girl. "Intersex conditions" could arise at each of the three levels of sex analysis: genetic sex, gonadal sex, and phenotypic sex. Only recently we began to accept that our main sexual organ when referring to phenotypic sex, is the brain. And the more we look into sexual differences, the more we realize our brains overlap in most parameters we explore. There are no male or female brains. When searching and measuring enough morphological, physiological, and behavioral parameters, we come to find, in each of us, values that are more commonly found in the "other sex"; as if each of us has a mixture of both male and female characteristics. Our hope at inDClazz is that videos like this one could contribute to eliminating the very unfortunate prejudices and discriminations of girls and women, based, according to some, on sexual differences. And on top of that, make it easier for future generations to understand that gender and sexual orientation will expectedly, at least, inherit our biological sex’s diversity. Gender equality and human rights should be a must in our education. We finally want to express our support for the LGBTQ community.
