They not only make for very impressive and flattering neckwear, but they also come with a deep and interesting history to them. Much like a modern necktie, a bow tie is a piece of fabric that is tied around the collar of a shirt, but unlike a hanging necktie, a bow tie is tied with a central knot, with the decorative fabric being displayed at either end. 01:30 Bow Tie History We can’t look at the history of bow ties without looking at neckties in general which are descendants of the strips of cloth worn around the neck of Croatian soldiers.
