Brissago-Inseln) liegen auf der Schweizer Seite des Lago Maggiore etwa 2,5 km von Brissago TI und 3,5 km von Ascona entfernt. Sie sind von Porto Ronco aus per Shuttleboot zu erreichen. San Pancrazio (oder auch Grande Isola) ist die grössere der beiden Inseln und beherbergt einen botanischen Garten. Die kleinere Insel Isolino (Isola Piccola oder auch Isola di Sant'Apollinare) ist naturbelassen. Die Inseln waren schon zur Römerzeit besiedelt. Um 1875 sollte auf den Inseln eine Dynamitfabrik errichtet werden, die das Nitroglyzerin für den Bau des Gotthardtunnels liefern sollte. Es kam jedoch nur zu Vorarbeiten. Die Inseln waren von 1885 bis 1927 im Besitz der deutsch-russischen Baronin Antoinette de Saint Léger. Heute gehören die Inseln neben dem Kanton Tessin den Gemeinden Ascona, Brissago TI und Ronco sopra Ascona. The Isole di Brissago (Brissago Islands) are situated on the Swiss side of Lake Maggiore, approx. 2.5 km from Brissago TI and 3.5 km from Ascona. They can be reached by shuttle boat from Porto Ronco. San Pancrazio (or Grande Isola) is the larger of the two islands and houses a botanical garden. The smaller island Isolino (Isola Piccola or Isola di Sant'Apollinare) has remained untouched. The islands were already inhabited during Roman times. In 1875, a dynamite factory for nitroglycerin for the construction of the Gotthard Rail Tunnel was to be built on the island.
