| Video Discription | Burnay Palace, a historical landmark in Portugal's capital, traces its origins to the 17th century. And since 2001, this emacute palace has been abandoned. Recently, acts of vandalism and theft have been happening and with this documentary, we hope to bring awareness to this ongoing problem!! Support our mission of bringing history back to life ► https://www.patreon.com/brosofdecay ----------- STORY Palace Burnay was commissioned by a Portuguese count and designed by an Italian architect. Completed in 1734, it served as the summer retreat for the Saldanha family until its acquisition in 1879 by a wealthy businessman and philanthropist: Count Henrique Burnay. After his death in 1909, the palace became the property of the state and, in the 20th century, the palace went from a summer retreat to the administrative headquarters of the Technical University of Lisbon. As the university occupied the palace, it underwent further renovations to adapt to its needs, while keeping in mind the palace's historical and architectural significance. Now, in 2024, there are talks of a future investment that aims to revive Burnay Palace. We will go more in-depth on this topic later on, including the full history of the palace and its many residents. In the meantime, Burnay Palace awaits restoration amidst ongoing acts of vandalism and theft.
