However, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have said that CAA will not be implemented in their states. The law seeks to provide citizenship to Hindus, Jains, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis who come from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. In 2020, the amendment was challenged in the Supreme Court by the Indian Union Muslim League. After which 200 petitions have been filed and tagged with IUML’s challenge.
