The Salt mines of the Alps existed since neolithic times and have some of the oldest evidence of the origins of the Celtic culture. Also, the image on the pottery fragments is inspired by a real-world Celtic artefact, the Gundestrup cauldron. Although the original image shows a Celtic fertility goddess and not human sacrifice, another panel on the Gundestrup cauldron shows something that is probably a ritual killing,.
