SCOOB!: FRED, IT'S A MAN IN DISGUISE!
-SPOILERS-
#Scoob!
Before starting I want to share an anecdote: it was back in 2002, I was four years old and I had never seen a horror movie in my life, Scooby Doo The Movie would be the closest thing I would see to a horror movie, I went with my family to the cinema, super excited, the movie started and after some scenes my mom decided to take me outside the room, we sat in the lobby and waited for the movie to end. Later I found out that my mom took me out of the theater because she believed that the movie would scare me and because of that I became a lover of horror and monster movies. Years later I saw the movie and I liked it, it is not the best I have seen but it was good for me.
Now comes: Scoob! The new Scooby Doo movie now made entirely by CGI animation, this new movie features the voices of Frank Welker, Will Forte, Amanda Seyfried, Zac Efron, Gina Rodriguez and Mark Wahlberg among other actors.
Shaggy and Scooby-Doo along with their friends Fred, Daphne and Velma join forces with other heroes of the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from Dick Dastardly and his machinations.
While this movie is no better than live action, it does have quite a few things to contribute as they show us the origin of the friendship between the gang and facets of the same characters that had not been seen before, I only got to see the What's series. New Scooby Doo? 2002-2006 and I honestly liked seeing that kind of thing of mystery and horror with some comedy.
As for the comedy of this new movie, I think it is not at all at the level of the animated series, without a doubt the funniest scene is when Fred falls in love with the police officer girl only to discover that it was only Dick Dastardly in disguise hahaha That was very funny but in general the comedy remains at a medium level, it is not good enough to laugh out loud but it is not so bad to get bored, it has a little bit of everything and jokes for people of all ages. The characters are well worked, none of them get out of context, but if Dynomutt's personality was a bit desperate for me, I really felt that he was a somewhat annoying character, but in the end it is great now: if you are an adult over thirty, it is It is possible that this film will generate a certain nostalgia since several Hanna Barbera characters appear that will surely bring you memories, right? I mean, I'm one of those who grew up watching The Powerful Girls, Dexter's Laboratory and The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy, and I'm not a nostalfag either, but if there are many characters from my childhood that I remember very fondly… so if they made a movie With these Cartoon Network characters, I suppose I would also feel some nostalgia but well, it is very cool and they must stay to see the final credits, there is no additional scene but the sequence of credits has three more surprises.
You know Beyond history or animation, I believe that this film was made to start a Hanna Barbera film universe, I spend hours studying the pop culture that my parents grew up with and for this reason I know at least a large number of characters from this universe, only in this movie we see the characters from Scooby Doo, Dick Dastardly and Muttley, Blue Falcon, Dynomutt and Captain Caveman. With this it is clear to us that Warner is planning a cinematic universe of Hanna Barbera characters and if so, there is a lot of material to use and adaptable characters that could generate an epic animated crossover, imagine Avengers Endgame but from Hanna Barbera. I just hope they make a Brak from The Brak Show movie, that would be so cool.
In conclusion: Scoob! It is not as good as its live action version or animated series, but it stands out for its animation and the way they present the characters to us, as I said: I would have liked to see this movie in the cinema, but you know how the situation is. . Check it out, I seriously recommend it.
My rating for this movie is: 6/10
