Believe or not that is exactly what they did during this prodcution of Charlies Angels back in 1976. To destroy a brand new 1965 Mustang ll that was a "hero" car in the production and simply too new and expensive was nixed in favor of a dressed up 65. They took either a 65 or 66 Mustang Coupe and transformed it to look like the Mustang ll Ghia. It happens in a few split seconds but it is clearly visible when slowed down.
