This Temple was built by King Kulothunga Chola II in 700 AD. The Sanctum Sanctorum is built by following Chola's Thoongaanai Maadam style. There are Sub Shrines for Lords Vinayagar, Dhakshinamurthy, Koshta Murthies, Nandhigeswarar and Chandikeshwarar. Like Vishnu Temples this Shivan Temple offers Theertham and Shadari to the Devotees visiting her. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Neem Tree.
