| Video Discription | Chhau dance (Chau or Chhau or ছৌ নাচ) is an Indian tribal folk dance of India. It is included in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of India. This is performed in the eastern Indian states of Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Chhau dance has three styles based on the location where they are performed . These are the Purulia Chau of Bengal, the Seraikella Chau of Jharkhand, and the Mayurbhanj Chau of Odisha. This folk dance was presented by Bangla Natok Dot Com at Sur Jahan 2018 by Jagannath Chowdhuri and his team of Purulia district of West Bengal, India. UNESCO has been creating a list of intangible cultural practices from around the world and the best safeguarding practices for them since 2008. Among the 364 such practices from all over the world, there are 10 representative ones from India too. While each one of us surely knows of scores of other traditions that we’re sure deserve a place on the list, here we celebrate those that have been recognized by the international body and stand as proud testimonials to our rich, cultural past.
