| Video Discription | An explanation of the tidal and geological features which on spring tides combine to produce turbulence and sometimes one large whirlpool in the Gulf of Corryvreckan. The Corryvreckan Gulf lies between the Islands of Jura and Scarba on the west coast of Scotland. This occurs every two weeks when the moons influence is greatest and the effect also varies depending on wind strength and direction. There are some videos of dives to the basalt rock formation 30 metres below which are worth viewing. It's a very dangerous dive only done by very experienced divers! If you stay down too long the tidal currents will push you down to the seabed and there is only about 15 minutes of slack water. U5SKPVPIZ3I |
