| Video Discription | Churches and synagogues in the Russian region of Dagestan were attacked by gunmen on Sunday, leaving a priest and several police and national guard officers dead, according to officials. The unidentified gunmen launched simultaneous attacks in the North Caucasus region’s largest city of Makhachkala and a coastal town called Derbent. Sergei Melikov , the governor of Dagestan, said: "We understand who is behind the organisation of these terrorist attacks [...] we understand what the organisers were trying to achieve." The Russian Investigative Committee has opened an investigation into “acts of terror”. Officials said that police killed six gunmen — four in Makhachkala and two in Derbent.
