In this permaculture garden, trees and shrubs and herbs, flowers and vegetables and vines, all grow together in an organized system. This is a Zone 8b garden, with many perennial crops, including mulberry, chestnut, elderberry, taro, cassava, Dioscorea yams, apple, pear, peach, Goumi berry, Jerusalem artichoke, yacon, green onions and more. A Grocery Row Garden system is a food forest that is kept in a row system, allowing greater edges and more control. We use the "Grow a Little Fruit Tree" method of pruning fruit trees small to keep them growing in the rows, then build vegetable gardens around our backyard orchard, all in long, no-till garden beds.
