| Video Discription | 1940 and 1950's action on former Denver & Rio Grande Western's Narrow Gauge routes over Marshall Pass to Gunnison, and the Monarch Branch from Salida, Colorado. Ride the caboose ride behind the helper of a three engine train from Gunnison on the west slope of Marshall Pass, plus an excursion to Marshall Pass with engine 499. Then cameo appearances by 268 at the Chicago Worlds Fair, and 479 on the Shavano in the 1930's. The bulk of the show is the Monarch Branch with single and 2-engine trains to the Limestone Mine at Monarch. Watch K-36's battle the D&RGW's only switchback as well as 4.5% grades. Then watch the transfer unit relay NG carloads to standard gauge at Salida. Finally we see 489 on work trains as the railroad transitions to Standard gauge ending steam operations in the Salida area forever. Good variety and historic. K57ukvZt4hw |
