| Video Discription | In this video we are gonna crack the hood on a Digidesign 003R to see what it looks like inside and to identify the ADC and DAC chips, along with other circuitry. This a 8 input, 8 output AD/DA converter used for Pro Tools setups from the late 2000s. Avid, the parent company to Digidesign makes the worlds standard DAW Pro Tools used by many commercial studios and musicians. Digidesign is their hardware brand that makes their converters, such as the Digidesign 192 I/O and the 96 I/O. The 003R came out in 2007 as was more prosumer based compared to the 192 I/O that was used in commercial studios. This will take 4 mic inputs (built in mic preamp), 4 DI (guitar/instrument inputs), and 4 1/4 TS line-level inputs. The interface communicates to the computer via firewire (1394) which was more common back in it's day. The 003 has three versions available, the 003 which is a console control surface, the 003R which is strictly the rack-unit converter in this video, and the 003R + which is a plus version, has more inputs.
