Here you can clearly see the 90 degree arc of the agitator shaft, and the fast THUKA THUKA THUKA of the gearbox rapidly changing direction. A marvel of engineering, and a huge evolutionary jump from the 1948-1986 belt drive transmissions. Too bad its considered obsolete. These machines were quite possibly the most robust design ever made next to Maytag's Helical pitman transmission. This particular one had a bad neutral drain pack, which is a cheap easy fix, but the entire machine was replaced because the owner just wanted something newer.
