The line was last in use in 1985 with the last workings coming from the nearby West Hallam Coal Screens on the outskirts of Ilkeston, eventually joining the Erewash Valley Line at Stanton Gate. Repurposed as a public right of way in the late 1990s, this former railway route is now known as the Nutbrook Trail. The name derived from the Nut Brook alongside most of this route.
