| Video Discription | Today in the shop I am showing you how to make a wooden longsword, designed with historic dimensions from Ewart Oakeshott's book History of the Medieval Sword. I use a piece of black walnut and profile the blade and handle, then grind in the fuller before grinding the bevels. Next I cut out and design the guard and show you an easy way to attach it to the handle without having to slide it along the blade like a typical sword guard. Last thing you do is wrap the handle with leather and oil it. This is a fun version of a wooden longsword based off of a type XIII and XVIII.
