| Video Discription | UNION, Ky. (Brad Underwood) -- It's almost been a month since a 26-year-old, Union, Ky. woman endured a vicious attack. As she continues to recover, she's finding happiness in helping other victims of domestic violence. If two black eyes and a chewed off ear weren't enough, Marilyn Stanley was awake as her scalp was ripped off her head. But now she said talking with other woman gives her comfort. The gashes on her arm are healing and her black eyes are gone. Weeks after the attack Marilyn is smiling again.When asked how the attack had affected her confidence she said, "It hasn't. Yeah, I might not have hair on my head. Yeah, I have a bandage on my head. But I think I wear it pretty well." Stanley was assaulted Sept. 24, inside a home in Walton, Kentucky. The Boone County sheriff's office said Zachary Gross punched Marilyn multiple times, commanded his dog to attack her and then removed 75% of her scalp with a knife. "When you're getting hurt you minimize the pain that you feel because you are so numb. You don't recognize everything you are being put through. You know it's happening but you don't feel the pain from it," said Marilyn. Through social media she said other women have reached out, asking questions, seeking advice, "Me, helping somebody else is the best thing that actually does help me. It makes me feel better, it makes be happy, it makes me smile because I can help them." Marilyn's advice to other women: know your worth and don't let anyone bring you down."Don't let anyone break your confidence because you're better than any abuse you will get. Nobody deserves that."
