| Video Discription | It's common for painters to work out of the wall putty container. But it's a really bad habit to get into because it ruins the material inside the can. When drywall mud or wall putty is exposed to oxygen it starts to dry. And this creates issues with the way you apply the compound and the way it dries. Also when you dip your putty knives into the can regularly it tends to contaminate the good compound with what painters call "chunkies". Then when you try to skim out a surface with a smooth coating, these "chunkies" creates lines in your finished skim. The answer: always scoop a small amount onto your larger putty knife, close the lid and work with two putty knives (one large, one small) until you finish the scoop you started with.
