Easter Parade was Miss Miller’s first movie for MGM. Her bravura tap dancing and energy shines through in Shakin’ the Blues Away. Mr. Alton’s Choreography performed by Miss Miller also deserves credit too. This movie was one of her two favorite movies, the other being, Kiss Me Kate, 1953. However, her favorite musical number was Shakin’ the Blues Away. Irving Berlin’s Shakin’ the Blues Away, was originally performed by Ruth Etting in 1927, which was a part of the Ziegfeld Follies. Another version of Shakin’ the Blues Away was performed by Doris Day in Love Me or Leave Me, 1955. Easter Parade, 1948, Ann Miller performing “Shakin’ the Blues Away.” Musical Numbers Direction By/Musical Numbers Staged By: Robert Alton.
