| Video Discription | In recent years, the term “clean eating” has become a popular buzzword among health enthusiasts. To me, clean eating means to focus on eating more whole foods and avoiding processed foods. A whole foods diet consists mainly of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats (such as avocados and nuts). The definition of a processed food can vary slightly, but it usually refers to foods that are packaged in boxes, cans or bags. Processed food falls on a spectrum from minimally to heavily processed. For example, minimally processed foods can include bagged fruits and vegetables that are good for you. Heavily processed foods contain additives, artificial flavorings and other chemical ingredients. If you’re trying to eat clean, you’ll want to stay away from heavily processed foods and high-sugar items like soda. It’s okay to have processed food every once-in-a-while, but moderation is key. Be sure to read the ingredients list on the nutrition label. If there are multiple ingredients, especially ones you can’t pronounce, that is a red flag. Clean eating needs to be a lifestyle to benefit your health long-term. My advice is to avoid a clean eating “kick” that will only last 30 days. Strive to make it a way of life.
