The International trade fairs GO and REGIONTOUR take place here. This is where tens of thousands of visitors can soak up inspiration for their holidays. A large selection of tourist and cultural options was presented by the Destination Agency Lower Egerland which offers great opportunities in this region famous for its hops. It is also called River of Legends area. Lower Egerland is a region you can visit throughout the year. Come and see for yourselves. Interview: Lukáš Pichlík - Manager of the Destination Agency Lower Egerland The Lower Egerland region is a part of the southern part of the Ústí region of North Bohemia. It includes 90 villages and towns, including the main towns of Klášterec nad Ohří, Kadaň, Žatec and Louny. Those who would like a cross sample of what the Czech Republic has to offer can find mountains, lowlands, rivers, the Nechranice reservoir, and a lot more here. I should mention here the temple in Panenský Týnec, which is known for its energy. Two positive esoteric zones converge here. The place is suitable for both psychological and physical relaxation. Mental illnesses are cured here and people get into a good mood here. Therefore it is sometimes called the temple of good mood. There is also a chateau in Krásný Dvůr with the oldest landscape garden, or for example Executioner´s Lane in Kadaň, which is registered as the narrowest street in the Czech Republic. In its narrowest part it is only 66cm wide. The Žatec hop-growing region is known almost around the whole world. Žatec hops is exported to a number of countries. It is due to the most suitable conditions for growing high-quality hops in the region. They are used for Czech and also foreign beers. We have a temple of hops and beer in Žatec. The name is used for the whole hop-growing region but also for the museum with an interactive exhibition. There is also a hop maze made out of hop bales for children where they search for a hop treasure. It reflects the symbolism of an alchymist searching for the best way to create high-quality hops, which the children with a little patience find in the end. The backbone of the region - apart from the river Ohře itself – is the cycling track, which runs along the river. Thus our region is also suitable for cyclists. Hotels can be found all around welcoming tourists on bikes. If you follow cycle path number 6, you will see all the “must-see” sights of the region, whether historical, cultural or natural. The river Ohře is navigable for kayaks and rafts all the way to Klášterec nad Ohří, then the boats must be transported. It is also navigable from the Nechranice reservoir to Žatec. There are boatyards along the river, for example in Žatec and Klášterec. The river is the true backbone of the region.
