In Nilka County of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, the local residents and the cadres who had come to Xinjiang from other regions of China gathered together to have meals and celebrated by dancing. "I feel very warm and excited to eat and dance with them, and this is something that I can't see in Jiangsu," said Zhou Zhongyuan, one of the cadres. Early in the morning, an art troupe in Ruoqiang County went to visit the local geracomium and brought a great performance there. "They come to see us, perform for us and eat with us, and we feel very warm and glad," said Osman Rejep, an elderly resident. The festival is also a day for the local residents to go shopping. The supply is sufficient and the prices are cheaper during the festival. "The mutton was 43 yuan per kilogram two days ago, but today it is 38 yuan," said Exmet, a resident from Urumqi. "The business is quite good. Most of the customers come to buy almonds, pistachios, walnuts and raisins. I can earn 7,000 to 10,000 yuan a day," said Ghëni, a dried fruit shop owner in Kashgar.
