| Video Discription | Most babies start to crawl between seven and ten months of age although some never do crawl. They might just scoot on their bums or pull themselves on their -- like laying on their tummies with their arms, called the army crawl, and then start walking. If your child does this, this is normal too but generally speaking most kids do start to crawl between seven and ten months of age. A lot of parents want to know how they can encourage this behavior. All the things your child has been doing up to this point like sitting, reaching for toys on her tummy, all those things are strengthening her muscles so that she'll be ready to crawl and walk. Eventually most kids do start to get up on their hands and knees and rock back and forth. These are the beginning stages of crawling but because most babies' arms are stronger than their legs they may actually start to push themselves backward before they start propelling themselves forward. To encourage crawling get down on the floor and play with your baby. Put toys out of reach that will encourage your baby to move towards them or want to move towards them. Maybe go behind different objects in your house, perhaps a table or a cushion and play peek-a-boo and this will make your baby want to look around objects, crawl to you, and make it a fun time. All of these things will encourage your baby's development.
