LGR "Tech Tales" video on eMachines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pndX0YNA70s Corrections, amplifications and clarifications: -The stock hard drive would have been branded "TriGem" but in all likelihood would have been a rebadged Samsung drive (since these were built as a joint venture of Korean companies). -I'd wager a guess that this monitor was purchased at the same time as the computer and was intended to be an upgrade. Given the Korean origin of the monitor however, maybe it was an upgrade option offered by eMachines/TriGem? -~6:51, I meant to say "uses for a CRT" rather than "uses for a Trinitron", but the general idea still stands. -The BJC-2000 printer doesn't seem to work. It wants a cartridge even though it already has one and I doubt it's anywhere close to smart enough to know if it has ink available. -The $99 they list sounds like a membership fee. I don't know what the arrangement was (I suspect yearly, but it could have been monthly), but even if that's yearly, paying twice that for a new computer was still extremely cheap back in the day (eMachines typically sold machines for $600 or less back then; most PCs of the time cost twice that, at least). -I don't know when the "eMachines Network" was shut down, but the eMachines brand was discontinued by Acer in 2013.
