| Video Discription | Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Learn How to Link and Transpose Data in Excel. Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we will be discussing how to link and transpose data in Excel. This question was sent in by Dana, who needs to link data from one workbook to another, but the data is in a vertical format while the destination requires a horizontal format. To solve this issue, we will be using a powerful array formula. First, we need to count the number of cells we want to grab, in this case, six cells. Then, we use the transpose function and press [ctrl+Tab] to jump back to the other workbook. We select the data, making sure to include the dollar signs, and press [ctrl+shift+enter] to complete the formula. This will take the data and turn it sideways, matching the desired format. This method may seem a bit complicated, as you have to select multiple cells and use an array formula, but it is a very efficient way to transpose data. You can also test the formula by changing the data in the source workbook, and it will accurately update in the destination workbook.
