There are people who prey on young talent and use their desperation of becoming a model to their advantage. What could be more flattering? Now, visions of fame, travel and money flash before your eyes. It's true that some successful models have been discovered/scouted on the street or nowadays on Instagram. But the vast majority of would-be models knock on door after agency door before work comes their way. General Best Practices As a general rule, you should never have to pay an agency to get representation. Modeling Agencies works to get their models work and they only get paid when the model books a job. Typically the agency will take between 10-20% commission rate from the models check. If an agency or anyone in the industry is asking you to pay for an opportunity, then its a clear sign that it might be a scam worth investigating.
