The bonding agent in this video is Quikrete, which is sold at all Home Depots, Lowes, and most hardware stores. A bottle costs about ten bucks. We used a Portland stucco-like Quikrete or Sakrete both sold at HD or Lowes. Of course, any stucco will work. I named this video Small Plaster Repairs for Dummies because I was talking to a man who has an idea of how to plaster. He said he would team up with another fellow who knows less than him and put me out of business. I suggested that if you do this, you need an honest and descriptive name for your new company and offered the title of (Crummy and Dummy Plastering?) We still laugh at that honest but offensive title. But, on a positive note, they are getting much better. I’m confident it won’t be long before they put me out of business. This line is for all who have the eyes of an eagle; this home was initially hand-dashed. However, I was using a clean (Course) washed sand, Not Felton or Oly plaster sand which has much finer sand. This clean, coarse, washed sand is not sold at my material yards. (This method is an ancient Chinese secret, O.K. it’s a plasterers secret or was) If heavy or thick sand is used when mixing, then applied, then floated, this sand finish will match the many coats of this softened painted Dash finish a bit closer. If I were to dash it as was done when the home was first built, it would be too heavy and show a bit more. The fact is neither will be perfect, but we do the best we can with the existing finishes. 1JqhN98YZU8 |
