Many people were expecting home prices to drop as interest rates climbed in 2022 and 2023, however, home prices in Florida have not dropped and are no longer affordable. Florida housing inventory continues to struggle and with fewer homes on the market house prices have continues to clime through the first quarter of the year. And people want to know why homes prices haven crashed yet. Unfortunately skinny inventory continues to prop up prices and many sellers are not listing their homes due to high interest rates. There are dozens of youtube channels screaming "you'll regret buying a home in 2023" and things like "the housing market is over", well, I'm here to tell you it's not over and prices have only started to level off in April and May of 2023. Our home prices rose in the first quarter by 3.9% , however, in Aril they were flat and May they wee flat ( meaning no price increase) . On top of home prices still being higher we are experiencing extremely high insurance rates. Florida insurance prices have gone through the roof too, causing home affordability to be very high in the sunshine state. 1 million Florida homeowners with citizens face double digit insurance hikes. With insurance hikes in Florida, high property taxes and low inventory Florida housing is no longer affordable.
