| Video Discription | Dr. Hendrik L. Tolman has a degree in Civil Engineering degree from Delft University of Technology. He was born and raised in the Netherlands and came to the United States in 1990 as a NASA postdoc. Since 1992, he has worked for the National Weather Service (NWS), which is part of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He is the originator of the WAVEWATCH III wind wave model, and is presently the Senior Advisor for Advanced Modeling Systems for the NWS. In the later position, he leads strategic planning for the next generation of computer models and modeling approaches used for the NWS forecasting enterprise. Dr. Hendrik L.
