The Grammy winner has been granted citizenship of the West African nation of Ghana on his 74th birthday by Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo. He handed over a certificate to Wonder at the Presidential Palace in Accra. Wonder's love for the West African nation has never been a secret. He has openly expressed his desire to move to Ghana plenty of times, as he believes, his ancestral lineage could be traced there. Ghana has long prided itself as a bastion of Pan-Africanism. Its founding Leader Kwame Nkrumah called the West African state a "Black Mecca". Ghana was the first nation in the continent to give African descendants the right to stay.
