At the time of her admission, Watson was a single mother of four—her husband committed suicide after suffering depression in silence for years. Watson, now 54 and a fourth-year medical student, is scheduled to graduate in May and start her psychiatry residency in July. She hopes to help others find successful treatment for depression and prevent loved ones from having to endure the loss and pain she and her children experienced.
