| Video Discription | The fake gold scam is famous in Dubai's Gold Souk where salesmen on the street approach you and take you into the alleyways to buy counterfeit gold. In the store, they show you real gold, but while they package it they swap it with either fake gold or a gold-plated product. When you get home you realise you've been scammed. It's very difficult to test the purity of gold yourself. The best way to test at least if what you've been sold is of karat quality is by using a strong magnet. Karat quality gold will not be picked up by a magnet! This test, like others, is not fool-proof! Shop at reputable stores with good reviews. If you're unsure, take your purchase to another jeweller and have them appraise it for you. Keep all your receipts, it's illegal to sell counterfeit gold.
