| Video Discription | The goal of this drill is to develop consistency in how you grip your pistol. When you can grasp the gun in the optimal firing grip CONSISTENTLY, you'll have the best chance of achieving a good hit under a variety of shooting conditions. This is a live-fire range exercise. Starting with the gun "tabled," you'll pick it up, acquire your firing grip, aim, and then fire one round at an 8" target at 5 yards. Pull out a Sharpie because you're going to mark your hands with three INDEX POINTS to help you determine the consistency of your "gun mount." You want to grip the gun correctly each time without looking at your hands or the index marks to help you line it up. You'll check the index marks AFTER each shot to grade how precise your grip is. It helps to enlist the aid of a "spotter" for this drill. Grip the pistol with your hands aligned properly, then have your spotter mark the three index points on your hands to indicate the correct grip. Shoot the drill 10 times. Success equals having at least TWO of the index marks lined up on 8 out of the 10 shots. This drill really isn't about accuracy. It's about evaluating how precise and consistent your grip is. It's also not a speed drill, so you can take your time to make sure your grip is correctly aligned. kQQJ_fp1U5o |
