Known for its unique blend of tradition and modernity, Aizawl city is characterized by colourful local markets, where traditional Mizo handloom and handicrafts find their place. Correction: Mizoram achieved full statehood in 1987 and not 1984 as I mentioned in the video. This was a slip of tongue from my side. I recently spent a few days exploring the largely underexplored part of Northeast India - Mizoram, and today’s film is about Mizoram’s capital Aizawl. The state is characterized by its terraced paddy fields, dense forests, and unique Mizo cuisine, featuring bamboo shoots and local herbs. I spent Christmas in the city and got to experience a completely unique local culture of the big feast the day after the festival. The church in my neighbourhood invited us for the feast and I just can’t thank them enough for it. The celebration is quite different from what I’ve experienced before around Christmas!
