| Video Discription | *Correction: Just correcting an error I made when making this video. This printer uses one pigment ink (the photo black), and the rest are dye inks. When I purchased this printer, the website was not clear on the ink types, and I understood it to contain pigment ink (I was 1/5th right). Thankfully, this does not affect my work, as I mostly print cards/postcards/art prints. This printer is still a fantastic printer, and perfect for what I need, however, had I known when I purchased it that the inks were not how the website worded I would have rethought my process. I hope that clears things up! * Ever wondered how artists make prints of their work? Some artists get them printed at print shops, but you can do it yourself with an inkjet printer and some decent photo or art paper. If you choose to print things yourself at home there’s a few things to note. Today I’m going to show you my print making process. I’ve learnt (the hard way) the best ways that works for me and my printer, and can give a few tips! These are things I have learnt through a lot of trial and error, and not everything will work for you, but it’s a good place to start. Printer: Try and make sure your printer for making prints is a photo inkjet printer. Also, choose a printer with pigment inks – this is important for creating prints that will last a long time as dye inks fade a lot faster. I use an Epsom Eco-Tank ET-7750, and it’s compatible Epsom inks Paper: Choose good quality photo or art paper. It is worth the extra cost, as it will make your prints look more vibrant, and work well with your printer. Make sure your paper is acid free and archival! Papers I can recommend - PPD Inkjet Art Paper, velvet etching - PPD Inkjet Art Paper, Fine Art Watercolour - Tecco Photo, Portrait, PM230 Matt - Marrutt Professional Photographic Inkjet paper 230gsm Archival Matt Single Sided - Ilford Professional Inkjet Media, 235gsm Matt While printing, things will go wrong, so expect to have a few issues along the way, but that’s okay! A proof print is a good place to start, and can save a lot of hassle – showing you what edits to make before printing any further. Happy print making!
