It is believed that Kurds in the north, the Shias in the south, and people in the suburbs of Baghdad were the most likely to be targeted in a chemical weapons attack by Saddam Hussein on Iraqis. VOICE-OVER: 0002 Preparations for a possible chemical weapons attack. 0003 These are British troops from the 7th Armoured Brigade otherwise known as "the Desert Rats". 0009 The soldiers here were carrying out last minute medical emergency drills. 0013 The camouflage suits will protect them from nuclear, chemical and biological attacks. 0018 Despite the searing heat of the desert, with temperatures already reaching 30 degrees celsius, the troops are expecting to wear these suits during the conflict. 0026 Dehydration is a real danger here. 0029 The soldiers have orders to stop every ten minutes - if they can - for special drinking stops to minimise the number of casualties. 0037 SOUNDBITE: (English) Kurt Ray, Sergeant, 7th Armoured Brigade: "It's quite hard; we've been in it now for about an hour but basically you've got to take on water as much as you can whenever you get a spare five minutes - that basically rehydrates from what you're losing from wearing the suit from the start. That's what we're trained to do and that's what we do." 0053 The Desert Rats, are expected to make a major contribution to any ground war. 0059 It's widely thought they've been tipped to hold Basra, Iraq's second city in the south whilst US soldiers attack Baghdad.
