This Black Wildebeest hunting trip took place in South Africa's Gauteng Province. After hunting Black Wildebeest for most of the morning, we were able to stalk to within rifle range of a group of three very nice Black Wildebeest bulls that were separate from the main herd. Luckily, the wind was right and they had no idea we were there. I got set up on the shooting sticks and waited for the largest bull in the group to stop moving and turn broadside. My shot hit the Black Wildebeest directly on the left shoulder destroying both lungs and the heart. If you look carefully, you can see the bullet fly through the air before striking the Black Wildebeest's shoulder with a puff of dust in the slow motion part of the video. The rifle used on this Black Wildebeest hunting safari was a Ruger Guide Gun chambered in .375 Ruger firing 270gr Barnes bullets. Shot distance was 242 yards. The Black Wildebeest only ran a short distance after the shot and qualified for an SCI Silver Medal. Johan Seyffert was the PH guiding the hunt.
