| Video Discription | A 122 year-old industrial building weighing 6,200 tons began a spectacular two-day journey on Tuesday (May 22) in Zurich. It is going to be pushed, in its entirety, roughly 60 meters to the west of where it was originally built. According to SPS the company paying for the operation, it's the largest translocation project Switzerland and Europe has ever seen. The Machine Factory building was facing demolishment in 2010 due to the expansion of nearby railway lines but it was saved when the Swiss real estate company, Swiss Prime Site (SPS), decided to buy it. The physical work freeing the foundations of the old factory and putting it on rolling tracks started last summer. So far SPS have spent roughly $ 12.7 million on the operation in order to preserve the Zurich landmark. With the use of 500 rollers and two hydraulic pressers the 6,200 ton-heavy building is due to be pushed to its new position slowly at a speed of around three to five meters per hour.
