| Video Discription | Your ice maker is an important part of your refrigerator, but it’s sometimes overlooked until there’s a problem. To prevent any issues and keep the ice maker running smoothly, it’s important to understand a few things about it. Changes in demand can cause some problems with your ice maker. There may be times when your household uses a lot ice, and then there are times when very little ice is being used. Changes like this are normal, but when unused ice just sits in the ice bucket, it can start to stick together and form ice clumps. The clumps of ice can then get caught in the ice chute causing the ice to come out ground up or more like crushed ice instead of cubed. Ice clumps can also interfere with ice production by blocking the sensors. When the sensors are blocked, the ice maker will not make new ice or dispense any ice. There may also be times when you forget about it and your ice clumps grows into an iceberg! When this happens, you’ll need to pull out the ice bucket and melt the ice down. Another thing to know about your ice maker is that the ice may look cloudy or white instead of clear. This is normal, too. You might also find little white bits in your glass after your ice has melted. They’re just calcium deposits, which often form when you have hard water. They’re totally harmless!
